One of Britain’s oldest museums, Saffron Walden Museum has unusually rich and varied collections including natural history, ancient Egypt and Greece, archaeology, local history, ceramics and glass, furniture, woodwork and textiles.

The ethnography collection is of world significance. Open 363 days a year, this award-winning, family-friendly museum stands in an enclosed meadow beside the ruins of the 12th-century Walden Castle.
